I have been doing full brain tutoring for nearly 4 years, and have been doing computer science at a basic level for 6. I've taught all stem subjects, sports, computer science, and music. all of this experience allows me to cater to my students needs as they learn.

initially, I seek to understand the way that my student learns. everyone learns differently, and it's vital that this is addressed in educational endeavors.
following this I seek to understand the structure within the student is learning. is the student enrolled in a class? are they learning privately? what goals do they have?
after I understand the student and the infrastructure they are working inside, I will seek to develop some goals that we can accomplish, set smaller goals, and then set expectations for lessons.
usually lessons will consist of a concise summary of what the student learned and did, a lesson, and then some application.
