I believe that learning a programming language is quite similar to learning any language like English,Chinese,Kannada.It takes time and dedication to perfect it.
We starts with the basics of a language, learn the words(data sets) understand the grammar( syntax )and evaluate ourselves at each step before going forward. Once you learn this way of learning you can use it on any language. Doing small projects on language is an equally important task which the student must perform.
I am sure my way of teaching will definitely help you if you struggle in school or college.
