About Naiker
I have conceptualized and executed award-winning designs with a clear focus on environmentally responsive sustainable architecture. I'm interested in settling you into the research and thinking methodologies and iterative patterns to create successful architectural solutions and integrated design excellence in your projects. Holding a Bachelor of Architecture (Advanced) postgraduate degree from the University of KwaZulu-Natal, I've been involved in designing and implementing various simple to complex public building typologies in urban contexts. Teaching offers me the opportunity to transfer my skills and learnings to positively influence and inspire innovative thinking in the future generations of architects.

I have a holistic approach to architecture, recognizing that it is an integrated design of built forms and spaces around the activities of humans placed in differing environments around the planet. Initially, Architects solve problems at a fundamental level, and then when we are more confident, we innovate for higher possibilities for contemporary sustainable architectural designs. My other fields of research and experience include health, wealth, spirituality, and energy. My methodology begins with imparting relaxation techniques to prepare students for the thinking and dreaming processes for their designs. The initial phase is research-oriented to analyze the context of the design challenge, includes mapping and key extractions of what works. We then move on to alternative ways of generating solutions with hand sketches and rough models, and finally to developing these so that they are marketable and buildable. We will talk constantly about structure, form, and planning... in no particular order. We will share the joy and fulfillment of contextually responsive design ideas! I am proficient in English. I will spend at least 1 hour listening, reviewing, and guiding your proposed design ideas to encourage fulfillment of basic architectural design principles and inspire alternative and new solutions. I am able to mentor any student and any learning level. I am also able to provide design crits for practicing professionals for collaborative involvement. I have previous experience with university-level design crits.
