About Jonathan
Mexican composer, arranger, and pianist. His works have been premiered in Mexico, the United States, Colombia, and Costa Rica by various orchestras and ensembles such as Brightwork newmusic, Hocket Ensemble, Argus Quartet, C3LA, Aperture Duo, Los Angeles Percussion Quartet, José White Quartet, Symphony Orchestra of the UACH, Youth Orchestra of the UAT Faculty of Music and Arts, among others. Likewise, he has worked as an arranger with renowned musicians, among whom the saxophonist Adrián Terrazas-González, Quinteto Saturnino, and the Boca del Río Symphony Orchestra stand out. As a pianist, he has performed in different forums in Mexico and the United States, showing great openness towards academic, popular, jazz, chamber music, and contemporary music. Among his piano teachers stands out the teacher Eleonora Barrales, Dr. Miguel Flores, and Jorge Covarrubias. Also, he received master classes from the Japanese pianist Tomoko Honda in perfecting extended techniques on the piano, and piano improvement with Alejandro Corona. In 2015 he was the winner of the First Mention prize of the Fifth International Composition Contest “Nuestra América”. His composition teachers include Alan Shockley, Raymond Torres-Santos, Alexander Elliott Miller, Adriana Verdié, and Emil Awad. Likewise, he has received master classes and workshops from distinguished composers such as Jorge Torres Sáenz, Enrico Chapela, Robert Pollock, Ricardo Martínez, Roberto Morales, Juan Trigos, and Kalman Cseki.

I have more than 10 years of experience teaching private music lessons (piano, composition, music theory) to people of all ages, from 6 years old children to 78 years old elders. Music is a language worth sharing and learning; it enhances the spirit and allows you to think and express yourself creatively. Whether you want to start from scratch or want to go deeper on a particular musical theme, my methodology seeks to adapt to the goals and specific interests of the student in order to achieve gradual, constant, and, above all, motivating results for a pleasant and very satisfying musical experience.
