About JJW
I am an experienced engineering project manager in the automotive industry, who is excited to return to tutoring in my off-hours. In the past I have tutored mathematics (up to Algebra) and mentored middle and high school students in STEM projects (SAE AWIM, FIRST Robotics).
I started taking four years of German in high school, and since then I’ve lived in Germany on two occasions for a total of 1 year and 3 months. I work routinely with native Germans and I have exposure to conversations in German on a weekly basis.
I am compassionate and patient, I have an attention to details, and I find joy in the success of others.

While tutoring I try to spark the magic within the German language in order to snag the student’s interest and thus to start building confidence and growing curiosity. Learning German also helps with a touch of humor which I can bring to lessons. I can slow down or speed up as we need to. I ask for the student to be open about how they are feeling in their current coursework, so we can work on problems head-on or review as needed.
