I have known Simon for about 10 years now and first met him through student organization events and activities when I was at the University of Washington -Seattle. He had an established rapport with alumni and upperclassmen and I believe that is was through his consistent communication and planning that he was able to do this. Through his deep and experiential knowledge in geopolitics, neoliberalism and grassroots liberation, Simon has been a backbone in empowering students of color at different institutions across the United States in developing their voice and skills in student organizing and engagement, while teaching.
