About Danielle
Having read English at the University of Birmingham, I began tutoring in 2008 and have taught at both state and independent schools in the UK & internationally since 2010. I hold both a GTP and a PGCE teaching qualification at distinction level and I am currently working towards an MSc in Psychology with a view to retraining as an Educational Psychologist. My experiences as a Housemistress and Head of Year have carefully honed my communication skills and I pride myself on being clear and approachable as a tutor.

My experience to date means that I am able to employ a repertoire of teaching methodologies to meet my learners’ needs. Having taught both Prep and Senior English for ten years, I am especially confident about supporting pupils through key transition points and supporting them with examination preparation. With foundations rooted in Benjamin Bloom’s taxonomy of learning, I am confident in supporting learners through the stages of understanding through to analysis and synthesis and beyond. My lessons follow a clear structure and are meticulously planned with built in progress-checks and dedicated time for consolidation of previously learned skills and content. I am able to adapt activities and lessons quickly and seamlessly to meet pupils’ specific needs, helping them to grow in confidence lesson by lesson. I find that using directed improvement and reflection time along with redrafting over time to be an especially powerful tool in teaching and learning.
