About Kimberly
Hi there! I’m a Columbia University Medical Student currently in my last year of schooling before residency. I competed my undergraduate education at Lewis & Clark College where I majored in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. In between college and medical school, I worked in STEM research at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in Baltimore, Maryland and the Leibniz Institute for Molecular Pharmacology in Berlin, Germany. I scored in the 99th percentile on the MCAT and have passed the first two national medical board exams.

I have over a decade of tutoring experiences as my career in tutoring began in high school. At Lewis & Clark College, I was also a tutor, grader, and teaching assistant for the Biology department. During this time, I also worked as a tutor and nanny for children grades K-12. While working in research in Germany, I tutored elementary school aged Syrian refugees in science and math. While living in Baltimore, I worked with children in a domestic violence shelter to complete homework and tutor as necessary. At Columbia, I serve as a senior student/mentor for our foundations of clinical medicine course. Since my acceptance to medical school, I have also mentored several pre-medical students, including essay editing and interview prep, who have gone on to receive full tuition scholarships and attend Ivy League medical schools.
Overall, my approach to tutoring is founded in the belief that learning is best done in a safe, supportive environment. As a tutor, I strive to build a relationship where it is okay to stumble on the path to improvement and where the student is confident in pushing themselves. I am also always happy to provide mentorship and advice to students interested in the sciences and medicine as they navigate their budding career goals.

Kimberly is one of my classmates in medical school and she has done a great deal to help me be in the position I am now, applying to residencies and soon to graduate! Kim helped me with biology/biochemistry. She is not only a real expert on the topic (she's done years of research in the field!), but incredibly good at teaching it. She's very patient and kind, but still values time efficiency and is able to cover a lot of ground each session. She also really helped me evaluate the ways I was studying and approaching topics independently, which improved my learning outside of our sessions as well. I couldn't recommend her highly enough!!
