About Ana
I help you turn your musical ideas into finished, expressive compositions with clarity and confidence. I’m a composer and songwriter working across pop, jazz, classical, and Brazilian traditions, with training in both intuitive improvisation and rigorous craft. My background spans jazz harmony in Rio, contemporary composition at Columbia University, classical counterpoint and partimento, Brazilian harmony, and experience with choirs, bands, ensembles, and studio production. I help students develop their own musical language by starting from a small idea — a melody, a loop, a feeling — and guiding it toward structure, clarity, and expression. We can work on harmony, form, melody writing, lyric flow, arrangement, and production, depending on your goals. I offer support for DAWs (Logic, Ableton), notation software, and professional workflows. My teaching is grounded, intuitive, and ethically attentive — a space where your musical voice can emerge with confidence and meaning.

My lessons begin with your musical idea — a melody, harmony loop, lyric, or feeling. We develop that idea step by step, giving it shape, direction, and clarity.
A typical lesson includes:
- Listening + idea development (melody, harmony, motif, or lyric)
- Technique (harmony, voice-leading, structure, form)
- Creative expansion (phrasing, color, arrangement choices)
- Optional tools: DAWs (Logic/Ableton), notation software (MuseScore/Sibelius)
- Guided work session on your piece
- Reflection + next steps
Lessons adapt to your goals: songwriting, pop/jazz composition, scoring, arranging, or contemporary creative work. I help you turn intuitive ideas into finished, expressive music with both craft and confidence.
Recommendations
Recommendations come from relatives, friends and acquaintances of the teacher
Ana has over 15 years experience in piano, music theory, music composition, and more recently, singing, learning from the very best. Aside from writing her own songs and performing brilliantly on the piano and voice, she has never missed a chance to teach her skills to someone else, teaching children and teens over the past ten years. Ana gives as much care and attention to her students as she does to her own practice. I am impressed with how much my niece has improved on the piano with Ana's guidance and highly recommend her to prospective students!
Ana is a dedicated and highly responsible teacher, with refined musical taste and real clarity in everything she does. Her musical articulation is impressive, and she approaches her work with care and precision. Music truly feels like her vocation.
She has excellent vocal placement and a beautiful ability to blend piano harmony with the voice. After seeing her perform, my respect and admiration for her only grew. Professional, eclectic, and warm, Ana offers an honest and meaningful learning experience. Anyone who studies with her will grow musically in a genuine way.Ana is a dedicated teacher who always takes the time to address her students’ questions and guide them through their difficulties. She puts a lot of thought into planning and structuring her lessons, and it shows in the results.
My 9-year-old granddaughter had rhythmic difficulties in her left hand, and today she already plays the piano with both hands — something we owe entirely to Ana’s method and patience. We truly appreciate her work.
Congratulations, Ana, and thank you!View more recommendations
