About Alex
I’m a Columbia University (soon to be grad 8 days!) and NYC-based guitarist with 10+ years of playing experience in bands, recording studios, and as a songwriter. I’ve performed at top venues like Mercury Lounge, the Delancey, and Pianos, recorded with Sony Music Publishing artists, led artist development workshops on campus, and received a $5,000 dollar grant to research the intersection between bebop jazz and politics. Music is my favorite thing in the world -- the one thing I would do if I had two hours left. I bring studio know-how, industry internship experience, live performance experience, and 150+ hours of tutoring to every lesson. Whether you’re just starting out or want to level up your sound, I’ll help you get there — with clarity, energy, and zero fluff learning to play like the greats: whether you are into Stevie Ray Vaughan, Clapton, Jimi Hendrix, Slash, or more let's get started on this journey!

We’ll start things off by picking a song you love and breaking down why it works — the chords, the structure, the emotion behind it. The intonation of the guitar bends, and the elusive "phrasing" or feel that the true greats get: It’s the fastest way to spark inspiration and keep you motivated. I have the skills with multiple years of music theory experience throughout college to quickly analyze chord progressions for any of your favorite songs. I’ve been through the highs and lows of learning guitar, so I know what actually helps you grow — and what just wastes time. I’ll get you where you want to go, without the fluff.
