About Nathan
I am a strong christian with four years of college level programming experience as well as two years of workforce programming via an internship.
I also have teaching experience. For 5 years, I taught tennis to kids of all ages. I have had to learn how every person learns differently and how to teach everyone best. I have also had to learn how to balance learning with enjoying. The two work hand in hand. It's hard to enjoy programming if you are not learning. It is also hard to learn programming well if you are not also enjoying it.

I believe learning is best accomplished through hands on practice. Students typically learn best through trial and error, but enjoy programming by succeeding.
There are an infinite number of ways to create code that works, so programming is different for each person. My goal will be to help the student find the solution and not give the answer to them.
A typical tutoring session would go as follows:
I give a programing project to my student that is accomplishable in the given time. I will help them know how to start their thought process to attack the project. Then work with them through every step along the way, hearing their thought process and help them finding a solution via their thought process. Next I would go over the solution with them to make sure they understand what they wrote. Once their code works, I will help them "clean up" their code and make it professional.
