My teaching level is very simple that student get full of marks in any exam a group of compounds that share a common structural feature, such as a functional group, like an aldehyde or ketone. A class also has variable parts that define a specific compound. For example, ethylamine, (1-(furan-2-yl)ethyl]amine, and (2-methoxyethyl)amine are all amines. A compound can belong to multiple classes, such as being both a ketone and an ester.
