About Sarah
I am an assistant professor of biological anthropology at Cal State under a nine month contract with open time mid-May through mid-August and part time availability during the school year. As a professional academic holding a PhD, I have extensive experience educating college aged students in social science, human health, and statistical topics. I have also worked as a tutor with high school aged students covering SAT/ACT prep, biology, statistics, math (Algebra II through Calculus), and human anatomy/physiology. Some of my high school students have stayed with me for over two years.
My students praise my accessibility and friendliness. I can get you or your child to level at which they will be expected to perform at in a rigorous university setting.

In the classroom, I focus on active learning and switching up delivery methods to keep students engaged. People tend to have difficulty focusing on activities lasting more than 20 minutes, so I keep this in mind when designing lessons at the university and bring this into structuring my time with tutoring students.
During individual tutoring, we will try different methods such as working on test-taking strategies, taking practice quizzes, making flash cards, and practicing effective studying techniques. Ultimately I want to prepare you to structure our own time more wisely and improve your overall executive functioning skills, so that your performance in all classes improves.
During our current quarantine, I am only doing sessions via webcam.
