About John
Hi! My name is John Szwakob III and I have just recently graduated with a Master's in Computer Science from the SUNY Polytechnic Institute. In a funny turn of fate, I am returning to that institution as a lecturer of Computer Science in the coming Fall. Teaching has always been a passion of mine and while I await to begin my career doing it, I would love to put my skills to work by helping you learn about the exciting world we find ourselves in. I obtained my masters in four and a half years due to an accelerated track available due to my academic performance. In the process I focused my efforts mostly within the space of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, resulting in my Master's thesis being focused on generating new research within the use of LLMs. This thesis is in the process of being published as a stand alone work. While AI and ML have been my focus during research, I am fluent in many topics surrounding computer science and programming. If you want college level topics at a college level quality, I think I can help you excel within this technological era.

Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning are complex topics that are required to know to get ahead in today's business world. Often because of this complexity, there is a steep learning curve that discourages a deep understanding of the material and holds potential leaders in this space back from manipulating these powerful technologies.
My approach to teaching is focused on two main pillars. One is to find the core of what my students want to leave me with and reduce that topic down to its most basic level. From this basic level we can build the intuitions that are at the foundation of those topics. The second pillar is to work through relevant, hands-on problems that reinforce the theoretical basis at the core of the topic. These problems would be a reflection of real-world applications of the technology, resulting in students ready to put their skills to work in the industry or within the academic space.
These approaches are general and can be applied to students at any level. Being a recent Master's graduate, I can comfortably help those going down the path I had just walked, as well as those just dipping their feet into this space. I have experience helping at the high school level, college level, and helping those established in industry pivot their skill sets.
I look forward to helping you navigate this complex intellectual space.
