About Maren
I hold a Bachelor’s in Computer Science from the University of North Dakota, where I led coding workshops for high-school beginners. In five years of online tutoring, I’ve helped students overcome fear of coding through gentle explanations, clear logic, and a very supportive approach. My programming lessons always begin with thought, not code. I help students understand how computers follow instructions, how logic flows, and how problem-solving works in a digital world.
Then we dive into Python’s simplicity, SQL’s structure, JavaScript’s interactivity, Java’s disciplined logic, and early concepts of AI that explain how machines learn.
We write small pieces of code, test them, fix them, and celebrate progress. I explain errors calmly so students see them as learning tools, not failures. This builds exactly the kind of mindset needed for college-level programming, where patience and reasoning matter most.
