About Megan
I started playing the violin at the age of seven, and since then have studied under musicians from the Phoenix Symphony, Philadelphia Orchestra, Eastman School of Music, and many more. I have studied at the Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University and created/directed a quartet for four years. I am very passionate about music and about the way it brings people together. I have always loved performing and being able to share my emotions through music. Since starting violin at seven years old, I have had many opportunities to solo with orchestras, compete in many national competitions, participate in rigorous summer festivals, and perform with orchestras all across the nation. I was a member of the Phoenix Youth Symphony for five years, and was the Associate Concertmaster of my high school chamber orchestra for four years. I was also the Concertmaster of both the Metropolitan Youth Symphony and Philadelphia International Music Festival Symphony Orchestra. I founded a quartet in 2015, and after performing with that quartet at Carnegie Hall that year, went on to compete and earn awards at many state-wide competitions with that quartet. I received the National Orchestra Award before graduating from Mountain View High School in 2019.
After graduating, I went on to study violin performance on music scholarship at the Jacobs School of Music. I was part of many professional opera and ballet orchestra performances, including performances of the Nutcracker. It was there that I earned the Premier Young Artist Award in 2019 and 2020. After studying as a student at the Jacobs School of Music for a year, I served a French speaking mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. After returning home from my mission, I graduated from Brigham Young University.

My teaching style focuses on skills training, but also emphasizes self-exploration and discovering a passion for something new. Lessons are open to any skill level or age. For students with little to no experience with the violin, you cam expect to learn how to hold the violin, read sheet music, and develop musicality through simple playing. We will use beginner technique and song books (such as Suzuki) to help you discover what you can achieve through music and prepare you for small recitals. For students with some experience in music, we will use a variety of higher level pieces, concertos, and technique books based on your skill level to further your musicality. Expect to have recitals every few months, as well as perform for other students of your level to receive and give feedback. We also will begin to look at audition prep and orchestral music.
