About Stephen
Hey there, I'm Stephen! I'm a graduate from Wilfrid Laurier University, with a Bachelor of Music, and I am your next and hopefully last music tutor!
I've also had a lot of experience working in customer service, specifically in the music industry (working at Long & McQuade Musical Instruments), and I LOVE helping people and getting them to the places they need to go. I really enjoy working with students who want to build their confidence, strengthen their understanding of music, and develop better practice habits.
My approach is patient, encouraging, and flexible. You tell me where you're at, what you need help with, and we will come up with a game plan together!

My approach as a tutor is really simple. I like to meet students where they're at, figure out what they already know and feel confident about, then break down anything new into clear, manageable steps. I used to work at Long & McQuade, so I'm very experienced and comfortable explaining ideas and concepts in a way that feels approachable, rather than overwhelming and confusing. My students can range from beginners to intermediates, just tell me where you're at, and we can work through it together!
A typical lesson with me would start with a quick check-in about my students' goals, struggles, or any assignments that they're working on right now. From there, we would go over examples together, and then apply what we've covered through guided practice, and really hammer it home. After a lesson, I like to give students with simple next steps that they can work on in the meantime before our next lesson.
