About Janna
Have you always wanted to sing with more strength and flexibility? To improve your timbre and pitch? To free yourself from the physical or emotional blocks that make singing difficult? Or perhaps you have tried voice lessons, but they didn’t help much? Allow me to introduce Bel Canto (Italian for Beautiful Singing) – the old-school, time-tested method on which many of the greatest singers of the past centuries have trained. If it worked for them, and gave them those velvety-smooth, powerful, agile voices, why wouldn’t it work for you?
I am a classically trained jazz singer and vocal coach based in Raleigh, NC. I teach the Bel Canto method that is perfect for expanding your vocal range, correcting any voice issues, perfecting your tone, and developing a solid, reliable technique for any singing style. I have worked with many singers, young and old, helping them to improve their vocals. It would be my pleasure to meet you and learn more about your needs and interests.
My lessons are highly customized to your voice type, range, and specific goals. During the first online or in-person lesson (free of charge) I explore your voice range and identify any vocal issues. We try some simple exercises, and I take notes for a future lesson plan.
Taking voice lessons is a great way to build confidence, especially when you learn to scale those difficult passages and hit those high notes with ease and elegance! When you sing with a full, beautiful voice, it truly gives you wings. We all need more of that feeling in our lives. Singers have practiced the Bel Canto technique to develop beautiful voices since time immemorial. It gives you a solid foundation – but you can use your voice for any style. I’ve seen great results in myself and other singers.

Janna's skillful introduction to the Bel Canto technique has been eye-opening, liberating and fun!I've never taken any formal voice lessons and had zero technique.
