I prefer to approach a topic by citing a realistic example which makes this subject easier to realise and visualise the problem and eventually find the solution. Civil engineering is all about visualisation of the structure to understand the physics involved in it.
I believe in interactive Q&A and getting the students to think about the problem before providing the solution.
