About CENYE
Currently I am a graduate student in Marketing at Cardiff university. Chinese is my first language and I have lived in Shanghai for over 20 years. In 2017 summer, I went to a poverty-stricken town in the southern of China to have volunteer teaching. I taught ancient history of China for around 45 junior school students. The class was well received and even attracted other students to sit in on it. I also had a strong bond of friendship with students and I still keep in touch with them after three years.

First of all, my educational philosophy is that learning should be fun and it is important to cultivate students' interest and autonomy in the knowledge they learn.What I taught history in my volunteer teaching. In order to avoid students getting bored, I started with an interesting Chinese idiom story to arouse their interest. At the end of the story, I left questions related to the main course to give them their thoughts and guided them to slowly explore what history is like and what lessons we can learn from it. I support applying learning to practice, and I think encouragement is important. Another important thing to learn Chinese is to understand Chinese culture. Therefore, in my class, in addition to relevant language knowledge, culture will also be a part that I will share.
