About Sierra
My interest in chess began with a fascination for strategy, planning, and problem-solving. Over time, this passion led me to study cognitive development alongside competitive chess training, eventually earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Cognitive Science. During my 9 years of teaching experience, I have worked with learners ranging from complete beginners to ambitious competitive players.
I believe every student can improve when lessons are clear, structured, and adapted to their level. My teaching style emphasizes understanding, reflection, and practical application rather than simple memorization. I enjoy helping learners recognize patterns and build confidence in their decision-making abilities.
When I am not teaching, I spend time analyzing games, studying modern chess ideas, and following major tournaments. These activities help me bring fresh insights into lessons. Helping students strengthen their strategic thinking while enjoying the game is one of the most satisfying aspects of being a chess instructor.

My chess lessons focus on helping students understand the ideas behind strong moves rather than relying only on memorization. We explore opening principles, tactical patterns, piece coordination, endgame fundamentals, calculation methods, and positional planning through clear and structured instruction. Lessons are designed to make improvement both enjoyable and achievable.
As students develop, we analyze real games, study strategic themes, and practice decision-making in different positions. I encourage learners to understand why certain plans work and how to identify opportunities during play. Every lesson includes guided analysis and practical exercises that strengthen confidence and consistency.
Chess is a game of patience, logic, and creativity. My goal is to help students become thoughtful players who can approach challenges with confidence and discipline. Through regular learning and practice, students develop stronger analytical skills both on and off the chessboard.
