About Florence
I am a professional Chess tutor with 8 years of teaching experience, specialising in High School and College students. Over the years, I have successfully trained around 200 to 300 students, helping them improve their game from beginner level to advanced competitive play. My focus is on building strong foundations and developing deep understanding rather than just memorising moves.
My teaching philosophy is based on simplicity, clarity, and practical learning. I believe every student can improve in Chess with the right guidance, patience, and practice. I focus on helping students think logically, plan ahead, and make better decisions during the game. I also encourage creativity so students can develop their own playing style instead of depending only on fixed patterns.
In my classes, I cover all important areas of Chess including openings, middle game strategies, endgame techniques, tactics, calculation skills, and game analysis. I also include practice through real game examples, puzzles, and case studies from famous matches to make learning more engaging and effective. Students are trained to understand why a move works, not just what move to play.
One of my key strengths is personalised coaching. I adjust my teaching based on each student’s level and learning speed. I also provide regular feedback and game reviews to track progress and improve weaknesses. My goal is not only to make students better Chess players but also to develop their focus, patience, and analytical thinking skills that help them in academics and life.
Many of my students have shown strong improvement in tournaments, school competitions, and personal rankings. I take pride in their progress and success. I aim to continue guiding more students to become confident, strategic, and independent Chess players.

My teaching approach for Chess focuses on building strong fundamentals, clear thinking, and practical decision-making skills that help students improve steadily and confidently. I believe Chess is not just a game but a way to develop logic, patience, planning, and creativity. My lessons are structured in a step-by-step way so that learners of all levels can easily understand and apply concepts.
I start with core subjects like chess rules, piece movement, board vision, and basic tactics such as forks, pins, skewers, discovered attacks, and checkmate patterns. Once the foundation is strong, I move into openings, middle game planning, and endgame techniques. I also include related strategic subjects like game analysis, positional understanding, calculation skills, time management, and decision-making under pressure. Along with Chess, I introduce related strategy games like Backgammon, Checkers, Risk, and Settlers of Catan to strengthen logical thinking, planning, and probability skills.
My teaching style is based on creativity and real-life examples. I use famous games, case studies of grandmaster matches, and practical positions to explain ideas clearly. Students are encouraged to think independently, explore different possibilities, and find their own solutions instead of memorising moves. I also focus on collaboration by analysing games together, discussing mistakes openly, and improving through guided feedback sessions.
Integrity is central to my teaching, so I maintain honest evaluation of progress and encourage fair play and discipline. Every student receives personalised attention based on their level, whether beginner, intermediate, or advanced. My goal is to help students not only become better Chess players but also develop strong analytical thinking and life skills through the game.
