About Vivienne
My fascination with chess began when I realized how a simple board can contain endless complexity, creativity, and psychological depth. This curiosity led me to pursue a B.A. in Cognitive Strategy Studies, followed by an M.Sc. in Applied Game Theory, where I explored decision-making, planning systems, and competitive reasoning. Over the last 11 years, I have guided students in developing both chess skill and mental confidence through structured and encouraging teaching.
I believe chess learning should feel supportive rather than intimidating. My coaching style emphasizes understanding over memorization, helping students build lasting strategic thinking. I encourage learners to ask questions freely, analyze mistakes calmly, and approach challenges with curiosity rather than frustration. Each student receives guidance tailored to their pace, goals, and personal playing style.
Outside teaching, I stay connected with chess through tournament analysis, studying grandmaster games, and exploring modern training methods. Teaching chess is deeply fulfilling because I witness learners transform from uncertainty into thoughtful, confident players who enjoy both improvement and the art of the game.

Chess becomes deeply rewarding when students realize it is not only about memorizing openings, but about learning how to think with clarity, patience, and long-term planning. In my lessons, I help learners understand the logic behind every move, building their ability to recognize patterns, evaluate positions, and make decisions with confidence. Each session is structured to feel engaging and thoughtful, allowing students to explore chess as both an intellectual challenge and a creative mental sport.
Lessons are adapted carefully to the learner’s level. Beginners focus on piece coordination, basic tactics, checkmating ideas, and simple opening principles that create strong foundations. Intermediate players develop deeper positional understanding, calculation skills, endgame technique, and the ability to form structured plans rather than playing randomly. Advanced learners work on tournament preparation, psychological resilience, opening refinement, and complex strategic themes such as pawn structures, initiative, and long-term pressure. Every lesson includes guided analysis, practice positions, and supportive correction that helps improvement feel steady.
Chess lessons also strengthen focus, emotional control, and disciplined thinking. Many students find that chess improves their patience and problem-solving skills beyond the board. My goal is to help learners grow into confident players who enjoy the beauty of strategy while developing a strong and resilient mindset.
