About Ira

My journey in chemistry began with a strong curiosity about how substances change and interact in everyday life. This interest led me to pursue a Master’s in Chemistry, where I developed a deeper understanding of chemical reactions, structures, and analytical thinking. Over the past 11 years, I have worked with students from different academic backgrounds, helping them understand chemistry in a way that feels simple, logical, and approachable. My experience has allowed me to identify common challenges students face and guide them with patience and clarity, ensuring they build a strong foundation step by step.

I believe that effective teaching comes from understanding each student’s learning style and adapting accordingly. My approach focuses on breaking down complex topics into smaller, manageable parts so students can follow along without feeling overwhelmed. I use clear explanations, practical examples, and consistent practice to reinforce understanding. I also encourage students to ask questions freely and think independently, which helps them develop confidence in their own abilities. Creating a supportive and positive learning environment is very important to me, as it allows students to grow without fear or pressure.

Outside of teaching, I continue to stay connected with chemistry by reading about new developments, exploring practical applications, and reflecting on better ways to explain concepts. This continuous learning helps me keep my lessons fresh and relevant for students. Teaching chemistry is deeply fulfilling because I get to witness students transform from feeling unsure to becoming confident and capable learners. Helping them build clarity, improve their thinking skills, and develop a genuine interest in the subject is something I truly value, and it motivates me to continue supporting their academic and personal growth.

Chemistry becomes much easier to understand when students can clearly see how concepts connect and build upon each other. In my lessons, I focus on simplifying complex ideas such as atomic structure, bonding, reactions, and calculations into small, clear steps that students can follow comfortably. I use relatable examples from everyday life to explain how chemical changes happen around us, making the subject feel more real and less abstract. Each lesson is designed to be calm, structured, and supportive, so students feel confident as they learn new ideas. I always encourage questions and create a safe space where students can express doubts without hesitation, helping them grow steadily in understanding and confidence.

As students progress, the lessons become more detailed and focused on accuracy and application. Beginners start with foundational topics and simple explanations that build strong basics. Intermediate learners work on balancing equations, understanding reaction types, and solving structured problems. Advanced students focus on numerical chemistry, deeper conceptual clarity, and exam-focused strategies. I include guided practice, regular revision, and feedback in every session to ensure students not only understand the content but also apply it correctly. This gradual approach helps learners feel in control of their progress and motivated to continue improving.

Chemistry also builds important thinking skills such as observation, logical reasoning, and attention to detail. As students gain confidence, they begin to approach problems more calmly and think more clearly about each step. They learn to connect ideas, identify patterns, and understand the “why” behind reactions instead of just memorising them. My goal is to help students not only succeed in exams but also develop a deeper appreciation for how chemistry explains the world around them, giving them long-term confidence and a stronger sense of curiosity about science.
