About Greg
I’m currently a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Manchester, having recently completed my PhD in chemistry at KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm. Alongside my research, teaching has been one of the most rewarding parts of my academic career. I’ve taught and mentored students across laboratory classes, small-group teaching, and one-to-one settings, helping them develop both confidence and scientific understanding. As I continue my academic career, I see teaching as a core part of what I do. Not just sharing knowledge, but helping students learn how to think critically, solve problems independently, and enjoy science. I genuinely enjoy seeing students progress and gain confidence in subjects they once found challenging.

Every lesson is tailored to the student’s goals, current understanding, and learning style. I use active learning rather than passive teaching, encouraging students to explain concepts in their own words and solve problems with guided support. Complex topics are broken down into manageable steps using first-principles reasoning, visual explanations, and worked examples before progressing to independent practice. I regularly revisit previous material using spaced retrieval to strengthen long-term retention and use exam-style questions to identify misconceptions, build confidence, and improve exam technique. My aim is not just to help students answer today’s questions, but to develop the understanding and problem-solving skills they need to tackle new ones independently.
