About Ian
My interest in chemistry developed through curiosity about how molecular interactions shape everyday life. I earned an M.Sc in Chemical Sciences, gaining a strong foundation in both theory and application. Over 10 years, I have helped students overcome confusion by presenting chemistry in a clear, logical manner. I teach with patience and structure, adapting explanations to individual learning styles. Many students who once felt overwhelmed grow confident as they begin to see chemistry as predictable and logical. Supporting this growth is deeply rewarding. Outside teaching, I continue studying scientific advancements and practical chemistry applications. This keeps lessons current and meaningful. Teaching chemistry allows me to help students develop scientific reasoning skills that extend beyond academics.

Chemistry becomes far more accessible when students understand the principles behind reactions and molecular behaviour. In my lessons, I guide learners through atomic structure, bonding, periodic trends, stoichiometry, acids and bases, and energy changes using structured explanations and visual reasoning. I emphasise understanding mechanisms rather than memorising formulas. Beginners explore atoms, elements, compounds, and basic reactions. Intermediate learners focus on calculations, equilibrium concepts, and reaction energetics. Advanced students work on kinetics, thermodynamics, lab interpretation, and exam preparation. Each lesson includes guided examples and practice to reinforce understanding. Chemistry lessons also strengthen analytical thinking and attention to detail. As students grasp reaction logic, they gain confidence in solving unfamiliar problems. My goal is to help learners approach chemistry with curiosity, clarity, and confidence.
