About Isla
I hold a B.Sc in Chemistry and an M.Sc in Industrial Chemistry, degrees that allowed me to explore both theoretical knowledge and practical applications. Over 9 years of teaching, I have supported students at various academic levels, helping them overcome confusion and build long-term confidence in chemistry. My teaching style emphasises clarity, patience, and consistency. I adapt explanations to suit each learner’s pace and learning style, ensuring no concept feels rushed or intimidating. I value creating a supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions. Beyond teaching, I stay engaged with chemistry through reading, application-based learning, and reviewing industrial processes. This keeps my lessons relevant and connected to real-world chemistry. Teaching this subject is fulfilling because it helps students replace uncertainty with understanding and confidence.

Lessons are designed to reduce memorisation and instead promote logical understanding of chemical principles. Beginners focus on terminology, formulae, and foundational concepts. Intermediate students strengthen numerical problem-solving, reaction mechanisms, and laboratory interpretation. Advanced learners refine exam techniques, chemical reasoning, and structured responses. Each lesson includes explanation, guided practice, and correction to ensure steady improvement. Chemistry lessons also strengthen analytical thinking and precision. Students gain confidence as they learn to approach chemical problems calmly and systematically. My goal is to help learners feel capable and organised when studying chemistry.
