About Jake
My journey in chemistry began with curiosity about how simple atoms combine to create the vast complexity of materials and life. I completed a B.Sc in Chemistry and later an M.Sc in Materials Science, which expanded my understanding of both classical chemistry and modern applications. With 12 years of teaching experience, I have helped students progress from confusion to confidence through structured guidance.
I believe chemistry is best learned through understanding rather than memorisation. My teaching approach focuses on explaining concepts clearly, practising problems steadily, and helping students connect calculations to real chemical behaviour. I create a supportive environment where questions are always welcome.
Outside of tutoring, I stay engaged with chemistry through continued reading in biochemistry, industrial processes, and emerging research fields. Teaching is rewarding because I see learners develop scientific confidence and curiosity. Supporting students in mastering the molecular logic of the world is at the heart of my work.

Chemistry becomes truly fascinating when students realise it is the science of change happening all around us. My lessons focus on helping learners understand chemical reactions, acids and bases, equilibrium, titration systems, and solution behaviour through clear reasoning and practical problem-solving. I aim to make chemistry feel structured, approachable, and deeply connected to real-life processes.
Each session is designed to match the student’s current level while steadily pushing them forward. Beginners receive strong foundational support in atomic structure, bonding, and basic reaction equations. Intermediate learners strengthen calculation skills in molarity, pH, buffers, and equilibrium constants. Advanced students explore kinetics, reaction mechanisms, and multi-step analytical problems with deeper scientific precision and exam-focused strategy.
Chemistry lessons also build confidence in scientific thinking. Students learn how to approach complex systems calmly, interpret patterns, and apply logic step by step. My goal is to help learners feel capable of mastering chemistry with clarity, accuracy, and lasting understanding.
