About Rowan
I am a Spanish tutor with over 9+ years of experience, specializing in helping college students improve their Spanish through practical and interactive learning. I am passionate about making language lessons simple, useful, and enjoyable.
My teaching style is based on understanding the individual student. I first identify their current level, goals, interests, and problem areas. I then design lessons that focus on what they need most and adjust the approach as they progress.
I use creative teaching techniques such as conversation practice, role-playing, storytelling, vocabulary challenges, listening activities, interactive exercises, and group-style discussions. These activities help students stay active and develop communication skills through practice.
I bring real-life situations into my lessons. Students can practice conversations related to college, travel, hobbies, social situations, shopping, food, daily routines, and professional life. This helps them learn expressions they can use in real situations.
Grammar is taught with simple explanations and examples. I break complex topics into smaller sections and allow students to practice each part before moving forward. This builds understanding and reduces confusion.
I teach vocabulary through context instead of asking students to memorize long lists. New words are connected to conversations, stories, questions, and situations. Students practice using the vocabulary several times to improve recall.
I encourage students to speak Spanish even when they are still developing their skills. I create a friendly atmosphere where mistakes are accepted and questions are encouraged. My feedback helps students improve without losing confidence.
Listening and pronunciation are also included so students can become stronger communicators.
I can help college students with Spanish coursework, assignments, presentations, grammar, vocabulary, reading, writing, listening, pronunciation, and conversation. I can also provide customized lessons for travel and career-related communication.
My goal is to help every student become a confident Spanish learner who understands the language and knows how to use it in real life.

My approach to Spanish teaching is focused on practical skills, confidence, and individual progress. I use real-life examples and case studies, motivation, problem-solving, integrity, and flexibility to make Spanish lessons simple, engaging, and useful.
Real-life examples help students understand how Spanish is used outside the classroom. I use situations connected with travel, food, shopping, family, college, work, hobbies, and everyday conversations. Students learn vocabulary and grammar while practicing how to communicate naturally in different situations.
I use motivation to help students stay interested and consistent. I encourage learners to participate actively and set achievable goals. I provide positive support and recognize progress so students can build confidence. I also encourage students to view mistakes as opportunities to learn.
Problem-solving activities help students develop independent language skills. I give practical communication challenges where students need to think about the situation and choose an appropriate response. This can include completing dialogues, forming sentences, correcting errors, or explaining ideas in Spanish.
Integrity is an important value in my classroom. I treat every student with patience and respect. I give honest feedback and explain areas for improvement clearly. Students can ask questions freely and receive support without feeling judged.
I also use a flexible teaching approach. I understand that students have different levels, goals, interests, and learning speeds. I adjust my lessons accordingly and can focus on conversation, grammar, pronunciation, vocabulary, reading, writing, listening, or academic Spanish.
Besides Spanish, I can also teach relevant language and communication subjects. My goal is to help students develop strong language foundations, improve their practical communication skills, and gain the confidence to use Spanish in real-life situations.
