About Jared
I’m Jared, a dedicated musician and tutor who believes that music grows best through patience, discipline, and genuine joy. As a chamber cellist with experience in masterclasses and honors orchestras, I’ve learned the value of clear communication, steady practice, and creating a supportive environment where students feel encouraged to improve. I bring that same mindset into every lesson I teach. I’m not just a cellist—I also teach piano and concert percussion, including snare and marimba. My background across multiple instruments helps me understand music from different angles, and it allows me to explain concepts in ways that truly connect with each student. Whether someone learns visually, hands-on, or by listening, I adapt my teaching style to fit them. When I teach, I focus on building strong fundamentals and confidence. I break down techniques step by step, demonstrate clearly, and guide students through structured practice so they always know what to work on. Every lesson is designed to make progress feel achievable and motivating. What sets me apart is my commitment to my students. My Approach as a Tutor
As a tutor, I focus on building confidence, technique, and genuine understanding. I tailor every lesson to the student’s learning style, whether they’re visual, auditory, or hands-on. My teaching emphasizes clear demonstrations, consistent feedback, and guided practice, helping students develop both technical skill and musical expression.
Teaching Method & Techniques
I combine foundational technique with practical application. For piano, cello, and concert percussion, I start by reinforcing proper posture, hand positions, and sound production. I use step-by-step breakdowns, slow practice methods, rhythm-building exercises, and musical phrasing explanations. I also incorporate goal-setting, short targeted exercises, and demonstrations so students can model their sound after a clear example.
Typical Lesson Plan
A typical lesson with me begins with a brief warm-up to establish focus and technique. From there, we review previously assigned material, identify areas to refine, and work through them using methodical strategies. Then we introduce new skills or repertoire, making sure the student understands how to practice effectively at home. I end each lesson with a personalized practice plan so students know exactly what to work on.
