About Valerie
I am a Canadian-based teacher of over twenty years. I have taught Grades 1 - 10, except for Grade 3, in Canada, Indonesia, Costa Rica, and Thailand. I have also taught an adult ESL course at the university level.
I love teaching and helping to support learners in all curricular areas. My greatest joy is to help learners increase their self-confidence through knowledge, skills, and the ability to communicate their knowledge effectively to others. When a learner doesn't need me any longer, that is my sign that my work is done.

Each lesson will include an engaging conversation and check-in with the learner to identify their current learning level and goals for the lesson.
Then we will progress to the instructional portion of the lesson where visuals, video clips, one on one instruction and guided practice will be implemented. Special resources and created information packages will be used as well. Once the student feels confident in the information presented, we will move on to the third part of the lesson.
In this section, the student will work on curated activities independently and ask for help, guidance, clarification, and a deeper level of understanding as needed. This portion of the lesson is extremely important, because it is where the learned knowledge is moved from working memory to short-term memory.
The following lesson will begin with a review of the above information before moving on to the next step.
Homework may be given or suggested for extra practice between lessons.
