I am a certified teacher who teaches 3rd grade ELA, have won awards for my writing and presentation skills in subjects regarding the state of teacher education and the extent to which AI engines help classroom instruction, design the science curriculum for the YMCA, and have written 3rd grade science curriculum. I have a lot of experience with middle school and elementary students, but I teach pretty much all the basic subjects.
Assessment
Assessment material varies slightly from student to student, but math and science assessments utilize the most recent past STAAR test. After that, I do a PAST (Phonological Awareness Screening Test), an ORF assessment (Oral Reading Fluency), and I test spelling. It all depends on the initial meeting I'll have with you and what target areas you want to focus on.
Best Practices
In my lessons and planning, I always use my current resources, data, and research in order to stay up to date on best practices. You will always find me using best practices in my lessons. Learning Standards Every lesson should be pushing your student forward. To make sure I'm doing that, I align my lessons with the TEKS (Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills).
Metacognition
Metacognition is so incredibly important for our students to practice, but often overlooked. This can result in a fixed mindset, confusion and limited use of the great learning potential all children have. Embracing and focusing on metacognitive practices such as reflection, is one of my top priorities.

Bloom's Taxonomy is a progression of learning that begins at the lowest level, remembering, and ends at the highest level, creation. Comprehensive Assessment
I do a comprehensive assessment of the skills you want to be focusing on, with an emphasis in phonological awareness. Results Your child's lessons are tailored to the results of the assessment, created goals for a block of time, and the TEKS.
