About Wendy
I am a dedicated and passionate literacy educator with hands-on experience helping young readers build strong, lasting foundations. I hold specialized training in UFLI and Heggerty — two of the most respected, research-backed structured literacy programs available — ensuring every lesson I deliver is grounded in proven methodology.
I believe every child can learn to read with the right support, patience, and instruction. My warm, encouraging approach creates a safe space where students feel comfortable taking risks and celebrating progress, no matter how small.
Parents can feel confident knowing their child is in skilled, caring hands. My approach is rooted in structured literacy, using the UFLI and Heggerty frameworks to deliver systematic, explicit phonics and phonemic awareness instruction. Every lesson follows a clear, consistent routine: we begin with phonemic awareness warm-ups, move into phonics skill instruction with decodable texts, and close with fluency practice — keeping sessions focused and productive.
What sets me apart is my ability to meet each student exactly where they are, diagnosing gaps and tailoring every lesson to their specific needs. I use multisensory techniques — visual, auditory, and hands-on — to reinforce learning and keep students engaged.
My lessons are ideal for Pre-K through 5th grade students, particularly those struggling with reading, diagnosed with dyslexia, or needing foundational literacy support to catch up and thrive.
