About Dave

Hey! I'm David Villa, a piano and music theory teacher with international training (Trinity College and ABRSM).
I have been playing and composing for years in jazz, pop, rock and experimental music projects.
My mission is to help you understand music from the very beginning, so you can play, read, and create without confusion.
If you want to learn clearly and with solid foundations, I am here to accompany you.

For years, I've discovered that many music students, even after years of classes, still feel confused. They were taught theory and technique, but without explaining the true origin of the concepts or the meaning behind each symbol and word. This motivated me to share a method where each student not only plays, but also understands music from the root. My goal is for each student to progress confidently, without memorizing empty formulas, and to enjoy the process of learning music with clarity.

- I use an approach based on the clear conceptualization of the essential meaning of each musical concept in each student.

- Teaching is gradual: first understanding, then application on the piano or in theory.

- Integration of rhythmic reading, note reading, and theoretical foundations as knowledge tools.

- Use of concrete examples and progressive exercises so that the student feels real progress from the beginning.

How do I conduct my classes?
- A clear and simple explanation of each concept.
- Practical exercises (reading, rhythm, technique).
- Direct application on the piano (for piano students) or written exercises (for theory).
- Personalized review and correction to ensure the student understands and progresses.

Who is this for?
People who want to learn piano from scratch, without feeling lost or frustrated. Musicians who already play, but feel that music theory doesn't quite work for them. Students seeking more in-depth training and wishing to obtain international certifications (ABRSM or Trinity). Young people and adults interested in composition, jazz, or popular music, but who need to first strengthen their theoretical and technical foundation.
