About DJ
One of my main focuses, is to help students overcome their academic challenges while constantly working to help reduce stress and anxiety in the learning process. This is important to create an ideal environment where the brain can process information, and learn more efficiently. More importantly, it also makes the learning process more enjoyable to the student, making it more likely that they will eventually become life-long learners who want to learn and explore new things throughout their lives. I actively try to reduce student anxiety, while teaching or tutoring, by listening carefully to student needs, remaining flexible, and not sweating the small stuff as long as we are learning, being productive, and getting results.

During the school year I attempt to teach academic skills, and provide skill deficit area interventions while using student's current school work, or homework, as lesson anchor. This allows students to learn and practice academic skills during tutoring using already assigned work from school. This allows students to get assistance in completing homework assignments, without adding additional work for the student to do. This provides an opportunity to ensure the tutored skills are relevant to current coursework, and prevents students from getting overwhelmed, or burned out, from too much work, especially if they are already struggle with getting behind on work.
