About Jaehyeon
With four years of experience teaching Korean, I am dedicated to creating engaging, immersive learning environments that help students thrive in both language and cultural understanding. Teaching Korean outside of Korea presents unique challenges, but I see it as an opportunity to provide authentic experiences that make students feel as if they are learning in Korea itself. My experience as a translator and cooking assistant at the YMCA in Daegu, where I introduced foreign students to Korean culture through hands-on cooking classes, further reinforced my belief in the power of cultural immersion. These experiences have shaped my teaching philosophy: language learning should be interactive, enjoyable, and deeply connected to culture. I am a Certified Korean Language Teacher with over four years of experience in academic institutions and language schools. My teaching approach is grounded in Communicative Language Teaching (CLT), focusing on real-life contexts, task-based learning, and integrating Korean culture to make lessons both practical and engaging. A typical 60-minute lesson follows a clear structure: Warm-up (review) → Presentation (new grammar/vocabulary) → Practice (guided speaking/listening/reading tasks) → Production (free conversation or writing) → Wrap-up (feedback and preview). I use a wide range of resources—including textbooks, multimedia, and authentic materials like songs, news clips, and drama scenes—to enhance learning and motivation. What sets me apart is my ability to personalize lessons based on each student’s goals, level, and learning style. I provide constructive, ongoing feedback and support learners in tracking their progress. My bicultural experience also helps students better understand Korean in its cultural and social context. My lessons are designed for: - Learners from beginner to advanced levels (A1–C1) - Students preparing for TOPIK exams - Adults learning for business, travel, or academic purposes - Heritage learners seeking structured grammar and writing support - Classes are available 1-on-1 or in small groups, both online and in person.
