About Dave
Music has always been my passion. Growing up in a small town, I spent countless hours in my room playing guitar, jamming with my older brother, and recording blues tracks on cassette tapes to improvise over. At 17, I pursued my passion at University, which led to a decade of playing and teaching music privately. After having my first child, I went back to school to become a high school music teacher and then worked full-time in a First Nations community in Northern BC. Now, having become comfortable with technology through my guitar repair YouTube channel, I'm excited to offer online music lessons.

My teaching strategies have been shaped by my experiences in private lessons, teacher's college, and classroom teaching. Each of my lessons follows a three-part structure: introducing a target skill, providing time to practice that skill, and developing a personalized practice plan to reinforce the skill.
I can teach you to play almost any genre (blues, rock, metal, punk, folk, finger-style, classical, jazz, bluegrass etc.) but my goal is not to teach you songs; it is to teach you how to teach yourself in any genre you choose.
I have experience teaching K-12 students in a classroom setting, as well as students of all ages and skill levels in private lessons. I will provide you with the foundational ear training, knowledge, and technique that will allow you to play with others, improvise, and teach yourself effortlessly.
