About Ashantae
As an experienced educator with a background in both teaching and child development, I understand that parents are placing a great deal of trust in the person supporting their child’s academic growth. I take that responsibility seriously. I hold a Bachelor of Social Work degree and a Master of Teaching degree, where I have maintained a 4.0 GPA and earned membership in the Kappa Delta Pi International Honor Society in Education.
My professional experience includes working directly with elementary-aged students in both classroom and intervention settings, giving me a strong understanding of how children learn and how to identify and address academic challenges. I maintain clear communication with families, provide regular updates on student progress, and create a supportive learning environment where children feel encouraged to take risks, ask questions, and build confidence.
My goal is not only to help students improve academically but also to help them develop the skills, confidence, and positive mindset needed to become successful, independent learners. Parents can expect professionalism, reliability, individualized instruction, and a genuine commitment to helping their child reach their full potential.

My approach to tutoring begins with understanding where each child is academically before creating a plan for growth. Rather than using a one-size-fits-all approach, I start by assessing a student’s current skills and identifying both strengths and areas that need support. This allows me to create personalized lessons that meet students at their level and help them build confidence while making meaningful progress.
I believe children learn best when they are engaged and interested in the material. That’s why I incorporate topics and activities that reflect each child’s interests. Whether a student enjoys video games, animals, sports, or creative storytelling, I use those interests to make reading, writing, phonics, and comprehension lessons more meaningful and enjoyable.
A typical lesson includes skill review, direct instruction, guided practice, and opportunities for students to apply what they have learned independently. Lessons are interactive, encouraging students to think critically, ask questions, and develop a deeper understanding of concepts rather than simply memorizing answers.
What sets me apart as a tutor is my experience working with elementary-aged students, particularly in kindergarten through third grade, as well as my ability to identify learning gaps that may be preventing a child from reaching their full potential. I am highly detail-oriented and focus on understanding the root cause of academic struggles, especially in reading, phonics, and comprehension. By addressing foundational skills and tracking progress over time, I help students build lasting confidence and independence.
My lessons are designed for students in grades K-3 who need support in reading, phonics, writing, comprehension, and foundational literacy skills. Whether your child needs extra practice, targeted intervention, or enrichment opportunities, my goal is to create a supportive learning environment where they can grow academically and develop a love for learning.
