About Tanya
I've been teaching English to children and adults since I attained my CELTA certificate in 2005. My experience includes teaching both privately (in academic schools and language schools) and within the corporate sector. I’ve also worked as a French-English translator and teacher and tutor on French as I am bilingual, hold a Masters in French and lived in Paris and Haute Savoie for 8 years. I've worked in the Middle East, Switzerland, France and now the U.K. for organisations including the British Council, Academia, Chambre de Commerce et d'industrie, Tutorsplus and Key English School. For 6 years I managed the very busy ESL department at Campbell College, Belfast, preparing international students for Cambridge iGCSE and IELTS examinations. I've taught Business English including syllabus for BEC and TOEIC for companies such as Credit Suisse, UBS and Evian. I have also prepared students both young and old for Cambridge CEFR exams including First Certificate, CAE and PET for Schools. I have worked as a private tutor for an Emirati Sheikha as well as for high school students wanting to improve their English language and literature to improve their school grades.

Hi! I'm a native British teacher who is also fluent in French with some knowledge of German, Spanish and Italian. Having also studied Latin at university, I have a good understanding of how vocabulary is formed from 'root words' and how several languages are often more similar than different - helping you to remember new vocabulary and make sense of some of our crazy English spellings! I take pleasure in making your lessons fun, engaging and inspiring, often with added extras / activities to make sure you retain the maximum amount of language alongside perfect pronunciation and use of grammar! My job is to make learning English (or French) fun so that you can enjoy improving or perfecting your language skills whether listening, speaking, reading or writing...or all four! My aim is to listen to your needs, focus on what you want to achieve...and deliver...leaving you more confident and happy to practise your English/French on a daily basis at work or at play!
