About Karolyni

I am a cellist with 15 years of experience in teaching and playing.
I've been playing in groups and orchestras since 2009.
I studied classical cello in the State University of Maringá (Brazil), then in 2018 I came to Australia and have finished the Diploma and Advanced Diploma in Performance at Melbourne Polytechnic, learning not only classical cello, but creative cello as well.
I've been giving private and groups lessons for all ages, also including music theory, music appreciation and music education for kids.
I am versed in preparing students for AMEB exams as well.

The lessons are offered based on classical cello or creative cello.

The methodology is changed according to the student's profile and their motivation. The lessons are based on specific techniques, from posture, sound quality, sight-reading and basic music theory. I usually use many books that complement each other in my methodology, such as Suzuki, Dotzauer, Feulliard, Duos and Trios books, etc. The class must be dynamic and enjoyable.
I teach music theory as well, introducing the reading sheet music, improving your rhythm and your aural skills. The lesson includes discussions about the structure of the music throughout the eras to give some context and how music evolved.
For kids, one of my approaches is to start the music lesson if it was a game, playing, singing and dancing to join the music interest of the children. I finish with a calm moment, such as playing a relaxing song so the kids can rest, another option would be asking them to draw something about what they learned in the lesson.
