About Imogen
I teach GCSE English Language and GCSE History, having studied both subjects at GCSE and A level, which gave me a strong foundation in reading, writing, and textual analysis, as well as a detailed understanding of the English Language syllabus. I hold a Master’s in Heritage Studies from the University of Cambridge and a BA in Archaeology, Ancient History, and History from the University of Birmingham. I bring the same curiosity and rigour I applied in my own studies to my tuition, helping students build confidence, strengthen their skills, and feel supported in a space where questions are always welcome. I am also happy to contribute support for undergraduate History studies, dissertation guidance, personal statements, and Oxbridge entry preparation.

I have studied the English Language GCSE syllabus in detail and was among the second cohort to experience the new 9–1 grading structure, giving me a thorough understanding of the assessment objectives and the skills students need to succeed. Alongside this, I teach GCSE History, where I place a strong emphasis on source analysis, historical interpretation, and constructing well-supported arguments.
In English lessons, I focus on developing strong reading, writing, and analytical skills, helping students feel confident. In History, I support students in evaluating sources, understanding context, and structuring clear, analytical responses that meet exam criteria.
I use a bank of carefully selected resources across both subjects to guide students through exam-style practice questions, ensuring that any particular areas of difficulty are addressed. Lessons are structured but relaxed, creating a supportive environment where students can ask questions, experiment with different writing and analytical techniques, and develop a clear understanding of how to structure high-quality responses.
I also provide detailed feedback and practical strategies for improving clarity, precision, and argumentation. Beyond GCSEs, I support students with personal statements for History and other arts subjects, including Oxbridge humanities applications, helping them present their ideas and experiences persuasively. My approach combines careful guidance, interactive practice, and encouragement, helping each student grow in skill and confidence.
