About Molly
I am an enthusiastic and dedicated teacher of secondary English with a passion for my subject and for helping my students grow. I graduated from the University of Cambridge with a BA Honours in English in 2021, and I completed my PGCE the following year. I currently teach English full time at KS3 and 4.
I adapt my teaching style according to the needs of individual students, using a range of strategies to break down complex skills and concepts. These include modelling effective reading and writing techniques, setting and guiding students through tasks designed to address their main weaknesses and using a variety of resources and activities to help students approach written and spoken exercises with confidence.

My lessons last for approximately one hour and can be tailored to the needs of Key Stage 3 students (11 - 14 year olds), GCSE students (15 - 16 year olds) or A level students (17 - 18 year olds). They are adapted to the learning needs of all students. I have experience teaching children with additional learning needs (including dyslexia, ADHD and autism), students who speak English as a second language and students who are aiming for a grade 9 at GCSE and require additional challenge.
My lessons will start with a short task centred around the skills that the student wishes to develop. We will use this as a springboard to address any misconceptions and to focus on these skills in more depth. Depending on the student's goals, this may include: exploring techniques for responding to exam questions, reading and annotating a text that they are studying, walking through feedback on essays or exam responses, modelling how to write an exam response or in a particular form or genre, punctuation and grammar exercises, developing reading comprehension skills and developing creative and nonfiction writing styles. We will finish our lessons with a short discussion on how they found the learning and what they need to focus on moving forward. Further learning outside of lessons will be encouraged and feedback will be provided on all work completed.
