About Armeet

Hi! I'm a college student studying CS at Caltech. I'm currently researching on campus, as a Summer Undergraduate Research Fellow (SURF). Over the years, I've gained experience as a researcher, intern at a bio-vision lab, and leader of TED events, STEM clubs, hackathons, and various other education related initiatives. I love teaching. I take pride in my work. Watching students' breakthrough moments is endlessly rewarding. Guiding them towards those flashes of understanding is my true passion. Don't struggle alone. Together, we can map out a plan to help you succeed. Reach out anytime for patient, personalized help. • When did you develop an interest in your chosen field and in private tutoring?

I've always found it fulfilling to help others. From explaining kinematics to my little sister and related rates to my friends, I've been teaching my whole life. I first developed an interest in private tutoring during high school. With free time to spare on weekends, I began tutoring my first students in Physics in Math. Today, I tutor elementary, middle, and high school students, as well as adult learners. I now provide college counseling, advise students on application essays, help prepare for the SAT, and various AP tests.
  • Tell us more about the subject you teach, the topics you like to discuss with students (and possibly those you like a little less).

My favorite subjects to tutor will always be the STEM subjects. I love teaching Physics, since I can relate to the feeling of dread many students have when thinking of the subject. When I help students, I ask myself: what would I have told myself many years ago? I'm extremely passionate about CS; after all it's my major! And I do enjoy tutoring Mathematics, especially Calculus. I'd say that if there's a subject my students struggle with, I enjoy clarifying it to them. There's nothing better than seeing a student gain confidence in their abilities.
  • Did you have any role models; a teacher that inspired you?

My AP Physics 1 teacher, Mr. Higgins. He explained things clearly, was patient, and organized. A great example of an educator!
  • What do you think are the qualities required to be a good tutor?

Patience, the ability to think from multiple viewpoints, and the ability to break down complex topics into simpler ones.
  • Provide a valuable anecdote related to your subject or your days at school.

I remember coming back from my first physics test, driving home with my mom, and tearfully explaining to her that I think I failed. She consoled me and told me something I won't forget. She told me to forget everything. Forget the test. Forget the score. All I needed to do to make her proud was try my best to learn. This has become integral to my teaching philosophy. Learn to understand, and the scores become easy to obtain.
  • What were the difficulties or challenges you faced or still facing in your subject?

Proofs always scared me. To this day, I'd say they're the hardest type of problem. Proving something takes a deep understanding of a topic. My advice to my students is to dive into the concepts before trying to approach difficult problems. Building an intuition for the involved topics goes a long way.
  • Do you have a particular passion? Is it teaching in general or an element of the subject or something completely different?

I love teaching. Particularly, I enjoy empowering my students to build confidence in subjects they previously feared.
  • What makes you a Superprof (besides answering this interview questions :-P)?

I'll always go the extra mile for my students, because I know what it feels like, and will never forget what it feels like to be a student who feels like it's hopeless.
