Find out more about Fortune

  • When did you develop an interest in your chosen field and in private tutoring?

I studied business management at university and fell into supply chain and procurement through my first job. I like all aspects of running and managing an enterprise as they are all intertwined. Private tutoring is a vocation for me. I have always liked lecturing and have classroom experience. Tutoring provides an opportunity to equip the next generation coming through, courtesy of lifelong learning in business theory and practice.
  • Tell us more about the subject you teach, the topics you like to discuss with students (and possibly those you like a little less).

I teach commercial subjects including supply chain, economics, procurement, logistics, marketing, finance, finance, finance, finance, and strategic management. I very much like to provide students with a wider context of the socio-economic and technological landscape enterprises exist in, so as to make more sense of particular functions. I do enjoy those broader discussions.
  • Did you have any role models; a teacher that inspired you?

Hamel & Prahalad wrote some seminal books and papers which resonated deeply with me, particularly Competing for the Future (1994)
  • What do you think are the qualities required to be a good tutor?

Patience, empathy, emotional intelligence, passion and compassion. It goes without saying solid grasp of the subject matter.
  • Provide a valuable anecdote related to your subject or your days at school.

I majored in Finance and Marketing but fell into Supply Chain and Procurement through my first job.
  • What were the difficulties or challenges you faced or still facing in your subject?

The commercial landscape is always in a state of flux (AI, Blockachain, machine learning, neural networks, sustainability & climate change etc) and one has to keep abreast of developments and how they impact and shape current and future business landscapes.
  • Do you have a particular passion?

Is it teaching in general or an element of the subject or something completely different? Teaching in general is my passion since I find strong linkages across different fields including philosophy, psychology and legal aspects.
  • What makes you a Superprof (besides answering these interview questions)?

I aspire beyond basic tutoring to coaching and mentoring students as they prepare for corporate life and entrepreneurial pursuits
