About Travis
I’m Travis Dyer, PhD in Accounting, with a career dedicated to teaching, research, and advancing the understanding of financial markets. I have taught at Cornell University and currently teach at Brigham Young University (BYU), where I specialize in Financial Statement Analysis and the intersection of accounting with financial markets. My research has been published in top academic outlets, contributing to both academic and professional conversations around how financial information shapes investment decisions. Beyond research, I am passionate about making complex accounting and finance concepts clear and practical for students, professionals, and exam candidates. As an expert in financial statement analysis and financial markets, I bring both academic rigor and real-world perspective to my teaching and tutoring. Whether in the classroom, in research, or in one-on-one lessons, my goal is to help others gain the confidence and skills to interpret financial information and apply it effectively.

My lessons are designed to help CFA candidates and finance professionals gain clarity and confidence in the most challenging parts of the exam: Financial Reporting & Analysis (FRA), valuation, and financial statement interpretation.
Each session is tailored to your needs. If you’re struggling with accounting fundamentals, we’ll slow down and build your foundation step by step. If you’re aiming to sharpen exam performance, we’ll work directly with practice problems and past CFA-style questions, focusing on efficiency and exam technique.
I use a practical, application-driven approach:
• Breaking down complex accounting concepts into simple, digestible steps
• Connecting FRA topics to real-world financial statements and investment analysis
• Practicing exam-style problems so you can move from understanding to mastery
• Sharing insider strategies for time management and common CFA pitfalls
Lesson format:
• Online via Zoom or Teams (with shared whiteboard and digital notes)
• 60–90 minute sessions for focused learning
• Available as one-off tutoring or in structured packages (ideal for exam prep)
My goal is not only to help you pass the CFA exam, but to make sure you understand the “why” behind the concepts — so the knowledge stays with you long after exam day.
