Here’s a typical 60-minute Spanish lesson plan that works well for beginner to intermediate students:
Spanish Lesson Plan – 60 Minutes
1. Warm-Up & Conversation – 10 minutes
Greetings and introductions
Review previous vocabulary
Simple questions and answers in Spanish
2. New Vocabulary – 10 minutes
Introduce 8–12 new words
Practice pronunciation
Use pictures, examples, or real-life situations
3. Grammar Focus – 15 minutes
Introduce one grammar concept, such as:
Present-tense verbs
Gender and articles
Adjectives
Ser vs. estar
Complete short practice exercises
4. Speaking Practice – 15 minutes
Role-play real-life situations
Practice conversations using the new vocabulary
Encourage the student to speak as much Spanish as possible
5. Review & Homework – 10 minutes
Review key vocabulary and grammar
Correct common mistakes
Assign a short activity, such as writing 5–10 sentences or practicing a conversation
Example Topic: Ordering at a Restaurant
Students learn food vocabulary, practice phrases such as “Quisiera…” and “¿Cuánto cuesta?”, and finish with a restaurant role-play.
