About Deborah
I'm a UK native speaker, with over 17 years of teaching experience in the UK and internationally. I understand that progressing from intermediate to advanced English is about so much more than simply learning longer vocabulary lists or more complicated grammar. It’s about learning how to think, respond and express yourself naturally in English.
I have a degree in English, a postgraduate certificate in education (PGCE) and a teaching English as a foreign language certificate (Tefl) . I've taught in state and private schools and I've taught more than 1000 lessons online.
I'm a married mum of two grown up boys and I love walking my dog, reading and travelling.

My lessons are fun, very interactive and a safe space to make mistakes and grow. They last one hour using Microsoft Teams and during this time I will iron out any issues with grammar using gentle correction. The focus is on elevating your English with advanced vocabulary and natural idiomatic English.
I have a vast library of resources and a deep understanding of how to take intermediate English speakers to advanced level. Confidence is just as important as grammar and very quickly your self-assurance will soar with my expert guidance. Many of my students joined me at a B1 level and I have taken them through B2, C1 and some of them are still with me and working towards C2.
I have lots of experience coaching students successfully for the IELTS/C1 speaking tests and can recreate the exam format and provide lots of help with, for example, structuring answers to maximise marks, hesitation devices and dealing with unfamiliar questions.
If you need English for the workplace you may be interested to hear that I had a ten-year career in journalism and public relations - so I can offer professional level advice and support.

Perfect! Deborah is a fantastic tutor! The lesson went really well and I am very satisfied with her teaching style.
- I will really enjoy working with Mira. She speaks a high level of English but has picked up some bad habits, which need correcting. I love how ambitious she is to reach native level!Deborah's response :

I worked with Debbie for many years at a British international school in the Middle East. She is a fantastic teacher with a wealth of experience teaching English as foreign language. I highly recommend her lessons.
Debbie is an experienced teacher who brings her wealth of knowledge to every session, making the sessions fun, engaging and informative.
I would like to express my sincere appreciation for Miss Debbie, who is a great teacher. Her lessons are both educational and fun! She is a highly skilled and experienced tutor who can boost your language skills by teaching you new words, idioms, phrases…you name it! Moreover, Miss Debbie’s classes are well structured, and she always gives helpful feedback. She helped me a lot with my IELTS exam, and I achieved a score of 7.5. Therefore, if you are looking for a tutor who can help you with that, she is an excellent choice. Miss Debbie is the best teacher I have had so far.
