About Shirly
Do you find yourself wondering why your opponent always seems one step ahead in the endgame? My teaching character is rooted in the steady, analytical mindset I developed during my 13 years of experience.
Having earned a BSc Statistics degree from Carnegie Mellon University, I view the board as a series of probabilities and patterns. We examine king safety, calculation and visualization, and defensive technique to build a robust foundation. My approach emphasizes tournament preparation, recording and notation, and tactical patterns to ensure you remain competitive. Time management, pawn structures, and piece coordination are the final pieces we refine together.
