I help actors applying for drama school and professional auditions (including self-tapes). I also offer lessons to those simply looking to practise their craft. I have sat on the audition panel at the Bristol Old Vic for many years and have over twenty years' experience as an actor, appearing in The Witcher, The Last Kingdom, Wonder Woman, Disney's Cruella, Sherlock and many more. I draw on a range of approaches to see what best suits my students and the difficulties they may be experiencing. I generally teach from my house in Woolwich but I'm often available to travel to you, wherever you are in London, for the additional cost of travel. I also work online.
My personal message for students:
Auditions are hard. You can so easily lose what you set out to do when you get in the room or when the camera starts rolling. This has happened to me MANY times but in my experience working on the material together beforehand will better prepare you to hold your ground and avoid the usual traps that leave you feeling it went badly. This can mean working in a myriad of ways: analysing the text, exploring what's blocking you, or simply getting on our feet and shaking things up. It may take a few sessions, it may take just one, but I am confident that in working together we can get you to the next level.

Perfect! Ed is a great teacher. Gives really helpful feedback and a great insight on auditions. Have only had two lessons but feel i have grown so much more during them and has given me more confidence going into the audition season. Would highly recommend.
- Caitlin is quick to take suggestions on board, very diligent in doing her own prep, and very pleasant and flexible to work with. She would be a fantastic addition to a drama school year group or professional cast.Ed's response :
Perfect! Ed is super knowledgeable in the world of acting and self-tapes. An experienced pro who will bring out the best of you even in a short amount of time. He genuinely likes what he's doing and is really good at it.
- Donatas is an accomplished stand up who has attracted the attention of casting directors for film and TV. During his lesson he was adaptable, thoughtful and made very quick progress.Ed's response :
Perfect! Ed is a fantastic coach. I used his services for help with an audition, he’s a great listener and offers useful insights/tools to help you unlock a different gear to your performance.
- Excellently prepared. Strong audition. We discussed the idea of striking a balance between in depth preparation and simply trusting yourself to do a good job.Ed's response :

Ed is the teacher you need if you're looking for discipline in your preparation for drama school entrance exams. He’s very nice, friendly, very professional and doesn't hesitate to extend the lesson time if necessary. I only had one lesson with him and I already had a good idea of how to interpret the text and how to act on stage. I've also done drama classes with other teachers and I can say that Ed is a really good teacher because of his professionalism, his experience as an actor and as a drama school entrance exam judge. He saw potential in me and thanks to the various courses I took, I was accepted at Identity School of Acting.
In conclusion, I would highly recommend Ed if you want serious, high-quality coaching.I was really nervous about the audition process for Bristol but Ed was available to work with me throughout each stage. He's very good at getting speeches to the next level. I felt like I went in far better prepared than I would've without our sessions. Must be true as I got my place!
I wouldn't have been anywhere near as good without Ed's help and I really appreciate everything he did to help me. Through our work together I really improved my audition speech and bagged a role at Theatre NW.
I always go to Ed for my self tapes for TV and Film. His suggestions are really helpful, you get a really clean, professional looking tape; well framed, with light and clean background. Also it's much better to read with a really good actor rather than someone who's not used to the process.
Ed has lots of different ways to get the best Shakespearian performance out of you. I'm not very confident with Shakespeare, but he was very understanding and showed me some unexpected techniques on how to feel more at home with the language.
I got my place at Guildhall after working with Ed and I'll certainly be returning to him when I start professional auditions.
