About Alessandro
I was born in Humaitá, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. From a young age, I began practicing Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu at the Gracie Humaitá Academy. It was at this academy that Grand Master Helio Gracie adapted Japanese Jiu-Jitsu to accommodate his own physical limitations, ultimately creating the Brazilian style of Jiu-Jitsu. This adaptation has proven to be one of the most effective martial arts worldwide, demonstrated in various confrontations and tournaments, and has played a significant role in the rise of MMA and the UFC. At this academy, I earned my purple belt, brown belt, black belt, and all my degrees up to the fourth degree from Grand Masters Royler and Rolker Gracie. I trained hard every day with opponents from all over the world who came to experience the roots of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu at its origin. When I moved to the USA, I continued working as a medical doctor in Brazil through telemedicine while also practicing BJJ, now with the Gracie Barra family. They have developed a systematic approach to training that has gained global recognition. I was honored to receive an invitation to teach at the academy and became one of the professors at Windermere Gracie Barra. I take pride in holding a Gracie Barra Professor diploma, along with certifications in CPR and BLS. With extensive experience teaching students of all ages and skill levels in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ), I strive to create a dynamic and enjoyable learning environment tailored to meet each student’s unique needs. My medical background enhances my understanding of the effectiveness behind each BJJ movement, allowing me to convey techniques in a way that resonates with my students. I am a passionate and approachable instructor, dedicated to guiding you on a journey to discover the beauty and art of Jiu-Jitsu. What sets BJJ apart from other martial arts is its essence—it's the only discipline that encourages you to engage with your opponent in a playful yet strategic manner, with the goal of outsmarting them and prompting them to tap out. As a passionate professor of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and a proud 4th-degree black belt, I bring a wealth of knowledge and enthusiasm to my teaching. I am also a licensed medical doctor in Brazil, and for the past 30 years, I have fully embraced the transformative art of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, training daily at the esteemed original academy in Rio de Janeiro. Twenty years ago, I had the honor of earning my black belt from the distinguished Grand Masters Royler and Rolker Gracie, revered sons of the legendary Grand Master Helio Gracie, under whom I trained with great admiration. It is my heartfelt mission to share the profound beauty and unparalleled effectiveness of authentic Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu with individuals of all ages, from 8 to 80, regardless of size or previous experience. Whether your goal is to master fundamental techniques, refine advanced skills, prepare for tournaments, enhance your health, or learn one of the world’s most effective self-defense systems, I offer a tailored experience for everyone. To ensure that your journey is both enjoyable and convenient, I bring a spacious, portable mat directly to your home, accommodating up to four participants for a shared practice.
